Snowboard Cross British Junior Champion Jamie Barrow (17) has been shortlisted for Great Britons for the second time. Jamie is determined to succeed in his quest to make it to the Olympic Winter Games but is finding it difficult to fund his ambitions. Budding entrepreneur Joe Bennett (17) and three of his school friends wish to attend the Global Young Leaders Conference in Washington. Taking place this summer, the conference, is a unique leadership development programme that brings outstanding young people from around the world together to develop critical leadership skills in a global context. They already have an impressive client list but have set their sights on conquering the US and Asia. Why the judges were impressed
20 year old trampolinist Laura Gallagher is hoping to bounce back from some difficulties early on in her athletic career and is aiming to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Laura is hoping to win British Airways flights to Canada which will enable her to train with some of the top trampolinists in the world, and on equipment that is not available in the UK. Anna is hoping to win return British Airways flights to San Francisco which will allow her to attend the University, and put her new-found knowledge to good use when she returns to the UK. Adventure-seeker Simon Perry (29) is embarking on a monumental bicycle ride travelling the entire American continent to raise money for ‘Help the Heroes’ and local charities for street children. Coming from a services family and having also worked with street children charities means both causes are close to Simon’s heart. The judges were thoroughly impressed by 23 year-old film-maker Luke Snellin and his latest work ‘Mixtape’. Luke wants to fly to Brooklyn as a BA Great Briton so that he can attend the Short Film Festival, promote ‘Mixtape’ and meet like-minded people who will help forge his blossoming career in the film industry. Bicycle enthusiasts Huw and Carolyn are undertaking the impressive feat of cycling 10,000 miles and covering three continents…all on a tandem bicycle! This epic trip is in aid of ShelterBox – an amazing charity currently hard at work delivering aid to victims of the Haiti earthquake.   3. Every 2 months our experienced panel of judges will select the strongest entries, including profiles with the highest public ratings and shortlist them.
  4. Then friends, family and the general public vote to decide the winning entries.
